Was one of your goals for this year to be more organised? If you’ve reached the second month of the year and haven’t yet got your business in order, why not try out these simple yet effective top tips. You need to plan and prepare in order to perform at a high level. Sometimes it’s all about going back to basics. If your strategy worked before but fell apart due to you being focused on other areas of your business, try adapting it to your current workload and commitments. Other times you may not know where to start, following these basic tips will help form a plan which you can build into your business.
- Manage your office and desktop space
Ensure your physical surroundings are neat and tidy at the end of each day. That way you begin every day with a clean slate.
Just like your physical desk should be clean and in order to help you stay organised and get work done, your digital desktop should be clean and organised, too.
Create relevant folders and organise all documents into the correct folders. Everything is easier to find and this keeps a refreshing look to help you stay organised.
- Prioritise
Write a daily/weekly to-do list, prioritise the most important tasks to be completed first. Tick off things once completed. This encourages motivation and gives a sense of accomplishment.
- Take notes/voice notes
The key is to create a system that works for you and then keep using it. Whether that’s the old-school pen and paper technique or using your smartphone, keeping notes ensures you don’t forget any vital information throughout your busy day.
- Delegate time consuming tasks
Give yourself more time to focus on the important things. A Virtual Assistant can help with many different administrative tasks to free up your time and make your life easier. Check out this blog on what tasks you could delegate.
- Plan, Prepare, Perform
Set goals for your business and plan ahead on how you are going to achieve them. Taking time to plan and prepare for meetings will save you time in the long run and overall improve your performance.
